A few months ago, we announced we would celebrate the opening of our 500th store, in Melrose Park, Illinois, by making a charitable donation to support vocational training and learning in Chicago public schools.
Today, I’m delighted to report that Harbor Freight Tools for Schools is continuing to invest in future mechanics, carpenters, plumbers and other skilled tradespeople by making a $100,000 contribution to the Children First Fund of The Chicago Public Schools Foundation. This cash grant will support expanded career technical education for Chicago high school students and professional development for their teachers over the next academic year, student internships next summer, and student scholarships and job shadowing opportunities. In addition, we’ll be providing an in-kind contribution of tools and equipment to assist students with their service learning projects.
We are continuing to develop Harbor Freight Tools for Schools as our national philanthropy program to support career technical education in public schools across America. I look forward to reporting on further exciting developments in the months and years ahead.
